"hello, this is poison control.....what is your emergency?"

Me: My 3 1/2-year-old son has just swallowed 14 gummy vitamins (WHO'S bright idea was it anyway to make children's vitamins taste like candy?!)
Poison Control: Do the vitamins contain iron?
Me: Hmmm - no, I don't see that they do.
PC: Oh, that is a very good thing! Oh, yes, that is a relief! Okay well, does he have any redness on his face?
Me: Yes, he looks as if he is really sunburned!
PC: That is from the Vitamin B. It should go away shortly. Your son will be fine. Call us back if you have any more questions.....and be happy there was no iron in the vitamins!
(This is an extremely condensed version of the conversation, so as to not bore with too many details.)

And what kid could resist this cute packaging?! Another "bright" idea.

(Author's note: The red painted fingernails are NOT a result of Adam's sisters, as you might think, but the doing of his FATHER!)

What a scare...and a relief! I guess we earn our gray hairs one by one...one scary incident at a time. Glad he's okay...and he looks SO cute in the picture!

And the painted fingernail...does he have big sisters or what?!

oh wow, that would have freaked me out more than a little. I am glad that it ended up not being worse.

Kind of makes you wonder about the whole "make medicine taste good so kids will take it" theory though, doesn't it? When I was a kid medicine and vitamins tasted awful and I would have never taken it willingly!

We had one incident with Lincoln drinking some children's Benadryl from a bottle when he was two. I was freaked out because I didn't even know how much had been in the bottle when I found him with it (empty). They told me to keep an eye on him for a few hours. BOY did he sleep long and hard for the rest of the day and night!

That is the most ridiculous packaging for vitamins. It looks like something they'd get in their Easter basket, for goodness sake! Sue them!!! (just kidding) I'm glad they didn't have iron in them.

That kid is adventurous, isn't he?

Nice fingernails, John! Adam is going to pay you back some day, I'm sure.

Maryanne you should go back into your journal and pull out the details about one of his destructo baby days and post it on your blog. That would be great.
