Last weekend was our high school's "Sweetheart" dance. Raegan went with her good friend Chase. It was HIS first date as he had turned 16 only a few days before the dance.

Raegan's dress was originally sleeveless so I sewed some sleeves into it, and it turned out great! Although I had procrastinated doing so until a couple hours before they were to be to dinner (two hours is enough time to sew some sleeves, isn't it?! Apparently not enough time for me!) I was still sewing on it 20 minutes AFTER they were supposed to meet their group of friends. Let's just say it was a little....intense!

After the dance they all came back to our house and immediately made Raegan give an impromptu harp concert.
The kids couldn't figure out what the "little door" was, but soon discovered that it was a slide that leads to our basement. They loved it! Even a few of the girls went down - dresses and all!
Going down the slide - WHEE!

Popcorn and M & M's? Check.
Swedish Fish? Check.
Good movie to watch? Check.
All twelve kids gathered in our theater. (Why is Chase the only one wearing a white shirt and all the others are black?? Am I behind on a trend here?)
Boy, do these dances ever remind me of good ol' Ogden High School dances. (I'm quite happy that I am past that stage in my life!)

I love the movie room picture. They all look so cute. I was unaware of the black shirt coolness factor too. Chase looks great in his white shirt. Raegan's dress turned out well...you did great on the sleeves. How fun for all of them! What movie did they watch? Yes, my kids love the slide at Tom and Julie's house too. The school dances in Austin are generally way too sick for the LDS kids' tastes, so there's a multi-stake "Mormon Prom" in the springtime with good standards instead of sleezy and inappropriate dancing. Lindsey's looking forward to going.
Dangit! I am going to have to add "slide to the basement" on my list of things that must be in our next house. I might be in this house forever!
Your daughter looks beautiful and I am impressed with your sewing. It looks like the dress was made with the sleeves!
That was total "deja vu" for me! My mom always made my prom dresses and it never failed that she was still hemming after my date had arrived. I'm just impressed that you would try to add sleeves...and you did a wonderful job!
You have the perfect teen party house...great thinking ahead!
I'm looking forward to Monday...can't wait to see you on the Today show!
Reagan's dress turned out great. I bet she and Chase had a fun time. I love the picture of their group. Jessa and Nicole look so cute! Geez, Raegan and Morgan going to dances now makes me feel O-L-D. OLD.
How cute! It seems like only yesterday I was taking the pictures of Raegan being born! And now she is going to dances. Talk about feeling old.
