Our little Matthew is pretty much obsessed with Vincent van Gogh. It all started when I gave him a children's book called, "Camille and the Sunflowers". It's the most darling story of van Gogh based on real happenings. Matthew LOVES this book, and this is what started his love for van Gogh and his paintings.
While in California last October we took him to The Getty Center where he was able to see and stand next to an original van Gogh. It was thrilling for him! Matthew is a very good artist and I know that part of that is his desire to paint like van Gogh! (Sorry, the photo with him next to the van Gogh is not the best quality - they won't let you use a flash, for obvious reasons!)

No way! I didn't even know who Van Gogh was until I was much older than Matthew. That's fantastic. I love his works too. There's something completely thrilling about standing next to one of these original works. I love it.
